Falkville High track teams sweep home meet

Falkville High School’s boys and girls track teams earned championship honors in their own invitational track meet at South Park on Saturday.

The Blue Devils won the boys division with a score of 199.5 while the girls came in first in their division with a score of 144.5

Danville finished second in the boys division while Decatur Heritage came in 11th and West Morgan finished 15th.

In the girls division, Danville and Haleyville tied for second place while Decatur Heritage come in 11th and West Morgan placed 15th.

Fourteen teams competed in the event.

First place winners in the boys division were: Aaron Estes, 400-meter dash; Cade Wilemon, 200-meter dash; Canaan Smith, javelin throw; Drake Hamilton, Alex Tuttle, Wilemon and Austin Wilhite, 4×800-meter relay;

Second place winners were: Hunter Woodall, 100-meter dash; Wilhite, 110-meter hurdles; Travis Cole, 300-meter hurdles; Estes, high jump; William Littrell, pole vault; Wilemon, 1400-meter run; and Wilemon, Estes, Clay Kyle and Tuttle, 4×400 meter relay.

Wilemon won Most Valuable Player honors in the boys division.

In the girls division, Amber Riddle finished first in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, Autumn Eddy came in first in the long and triple jumps. Tiana Drinkard won both the discus and javelin throws.

Second place finishers were: Katie Evans, 100-meter dash; Heather Smith, pole vault; Elizabeth Davis, triple jump; and Davis, Caitlin Dotson, Riddle and Smith, 4×400-meter relay.

Danville’s Matthew Terry finished first in the shot put, D.J. Batts came in first in the Long jump and Dallas McAbee won first place in the 110-meter hurdles. McAbee finished second in the 200-meter dash and Slater Robinson, Travis Turrentine, Batts and McAbee won first place in the 4×100 relay,

In the girls division, Danville’s Tara Jolley finished second in the shot put.

Falkville to host 1A-2A sectional

Falkville will host the Class 1A-2A Section 3 track and field meet at South Park on Friday and Saturday. Competi-tion will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday.
