Hartselle girls track finishes 2nd in section

Hartselle High School’s girls finished second and the boys came in sixth at the North sectional Track meet on Saturday.

Quanesha Burks paced Hartselle’s girls with first place finishes in all four events in which she participated. She won the 100 and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.25 and 25.80, respectively. She also finished first in the long jump with a distance of 18-10.50 and won the triple jump with a distance of 39-06

Other top 10 finishers in the girls division were: Megan Zuck, second in the triple jump and third in the long jump; Megan Zuck, third in the javelin; Kaeli Gerstman, third in the discus; Billie Shelton, third in the100-meter hurdles and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles;

Taylor Barnett, fifth in the 3200-meter run; Katy Beth Bole, seventh in the pole vault and tenth in the 800-meter run; Callie Partlow, Savanah Holmes and Alley Orr, sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively, in the javelin throw; Regan Bowling, fifth in the 800-meter run; and Taylor Barnett, Bole, Bowling and Jessica Hickerson, third in the 4×800 relay.

Mason McGee led Hartselle’s boys by finishing first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.94. He also finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Other too 10 finishes in the boys division were: Johnathan Duncan, second in the 800-meter run; James Glenn, sixth in the discus and seventh in the shot put; Hunter Grantland, fourth in the 100-meter dash; Steven Cleek, fifth in the 400-meter dash; Zane Green, seventh in the 110-meter hurdles; John Paulsen, seventh in the 800-meter run; Aaron Davis, eighth in the 3200-meter run.

In addition, Chase Barrett, Cleek, Duncan and Grantland came in second in the 4×400 relay and Barrett, Duncan, Davis and Paulsen finished fourth in the 4×800 relay.

Sixteen members of the girls team advanced to the state meet in Gulf Shores this upcoming weekend. The are: Jordan Barbrey, 4×400 relay; Taylor Barnett, 4×800 relay and 3200 meter run; Kath Beth Bole, 800-meter run, 4×800 relay and 4×400 relay; Quanesha Burks, long jump, triple jump, 100-meter and 200-meter dashes; Abigail Davis, 3200-meter run; Kaeli Gerstman, discus; Olivia Godsey, 4×100 relay; Jessica Hickerson, 4×800 and 4×400 relay; Savanah Holmes, javelin; Ashley Nolin, 4×100 relay; Alley Orr, javelin; Calli Partlow, javelin; Billie Shelton, 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and 4×400 relay; Kelsey Rae Walling, pole vault and 4×100 relay; and Megan Zuck, long jump, triple jump and 4×400 relay.

Hartselle’s boys qualifying for the state meet are listed as follows: Chase Barrett, 4×400 and 4×800 relays; Steven Cleek, 4×100, 4×400 relays and 400-meter dash; Aaron Davis, 3200 run, 4×800 relay; John Duncan, 4×400, 4×800 and 800-meter run; James Glenn, shot put and discus; Hunter Grantland, 100-meter dash, 4×100 relay and 4×400 relay; Zane Green, 4×100 relay; Mason McGee, 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles; Johns Paulsen, 4×800 relay and 800-meter run; and Nic Steele, 4×100 relay.
