Tennis players fall at state
Hartselle’s Kath Beth Bole and Jordan Barbrey got off to a fast start before losing in the semifinal round of the girls Class 5A State Tennis Tournament in Decatur on Tuesday.
The two sophomores recorded an impressive 6-2 decision in the first set before losing 6-3, 6-1 to Cullman’s Olivia Sharpton and Bailey Baker. They received an opening round bye and defeated Chilton’s County’s Anna Adams and Anna Bearden 6-0, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
In singles competition, No. 5 Barbrey lost to 6-4, 6-0 to Walker in the semifinals.
Hartselle finished eighth overall with 14 points.
