Remember our soldiers in your prayers

Members of Shady Grove Baptist Church express Christian love and heartfelt prayers for the following soldiers and their families: David Long, Brad Wallace, Lee Thompson, Matthew Young, Anthony Thomas, Seth Fagan-Marines, Joseph Hardin-SW Asia, Josh Spinks-South Korea, John Black, Jack C. Herbert, Jeremy White-Virginia, Aaron Money-Afghanistan, Derek Jones-Marines, Brandon Jones-Iraq, Jeff Hartsfield-Afghanistan and Dakota McClung-South Korea.

I want to say to everyone this week: God Bless America and God bless all of our soldiers because without them we would not have the freedoms we enjoy today.

Friends and patrons of Traci Slate at Weekdays Deli in Hartselle, regret her closing the doors after 21 years at that location. The last day for the Deli was Tues., April 30.

Many from all over the surrounding communities will miss the food and fellowship there. We wish Traci the best always and hope that she enjoys her retirement from the food service.

We express Christian love and heartfelt sympathy this week for the family of Robbie Morris who passed away on April 24. Her funeral was held at Peck Funeral Home Chapel on Friday with burial in Herring Cemetery.

She will be greatly missed and will be remembered for her kindness and sharing of her beautiful garden and her delicious cakes.

The members of Shady Grove Baptist Church express loving memories for: David James, April 5, 1960, to Nov. 22, 2010; Jewel Lake, April 8, 1913, to Sept. 25, 2004; Hannah Michelle Lacy, April 2, 1999, to April 12, 1999; and Odis Morris, April 20, 1923, to Dec. 27, 2009.

Will and Robin Anders and Charlie of Greensboro, N.C., enjoyed visiting with his grandmother, Doris Herring of Massey. Will was honored with a family supper for his birthday. Helping him celebrate were Larry Anders of Sheffield and Theron and B.B. Anders of Huntsville. Will and his family spent the weekend at Oak Mountain State Park with his parents, Ferrell and Pauline Anders of Fairhope, and his sister, Laura Lee and her sons, Anders and William, of Florence.

Members of McKendree United Methodist Church enjoyed having the youth conduct the morning worship service on Sun., April 28. The service was led by the Rev. Mike Vest who was assisted by youth director Kevin Crawley.

Members of Shady Grove Baptist Church express Christian love and heartfelt sympathy to the following families: Mike and Martha Bowling and family in the death of his grandfather, Norman Austell Bowling; Billy and Janice Hargett and family in the death of his brother, Clarris Hargett; and Byron and Dawn Terry and family in the death of his grandmother, Ruby Lee Terry.

The McKendree United Methodist Church ladies night out group will meet Tues., May 7, at 6:30 p.m. Frances Rowe will be the hostess for the potluck supper and meeting, unless members are notified otherwise. The members will be planning a mission project.

Trey and Stephanie Summerford’s baby daughter Tenley was dedicated in a ceremony during the morning worship service at Fairview Church of God on Sun., April 21. Following the service,

Trey and Stephanie’s families enjoyed lunch together at Sedona Steakhouse in Hartselle.
