Lady Tigers soccer falls in sub-state

Hartselle’s girls soccer team saw its season end in the first round of sub-state, as the Lady Tigers fell 2-1 to Fort Payne on Tuesday.

Leah Roberts scored goal assisted by Sarah Horner in first minute.

Fort Payne scored a few minutes later to tie. They scored again with about 10 minutes left in the half.

Both teams held scoreless the second half despite us having more shots on goal. Chastity Golden made several outstanding saves in goal.

“I am very proud of this team,” said head coach Jeff Roberts after the game. “They never gave up when hot behind and took the fight to them. We had some players hurt and sick but they have everything they had and we left everything we had out there on the field. Hartselle can be proud of the way this team handled itself with class and sportsmanship not only tonight but the entire year.”
