House damaged in Sunday blaze

A wood frame house at 410 Pearl St. in Hartselle sustained heavy damage early Sunday morning from a fire of undetermined origin.

Hartselle Fire & Rescue arrived on the scene at 2:25 a.m. and used two engine companies and a ladder truck to bring the blaze under control. Fire fighters were on the scene two and one-half hours later knocking down hot spots, according to Fire Chief Steve Shelton. The unoccupied house sustained heavy smoke and fire damage throughout its interior, roof and back exterior. Heat from the blaze also caused damage to the vinyl siding on the house at 410 Pearl St., Shelton said.

The house was owned by Denise Lee and was in the process of being vacated.

Shelton said Hartselle Fire & Rescue is conducting its own investigation in an effort to determine the cause of the fire.
