Fairview-The Grace Place hosted a ‘Light up the Night’ midnight 5k walk/run on Friday night at the South Park Complex in Falkville.

The coordinators for the event were Fairview members Nikki Miller and Ben Eubanks. Miller said they had 129 registered participants and raised over $1,500 for the Missions Program in Guatemala.

“Our team was overwhelmed by the support we had for the first race,” Miller said. “We had a super turnout from Falkville and Hartselle but also support from participants in Madison, Arab, Athens, Decatur and Guntersville. We are appreciative of the assistance we received from the City of Falkville and Police Chief Chris Free’s team as well as the District 3 County Commissioner Don Stisher and his team. We’re looking forward to next year’s race.”

Fairview’s mission program is connected to former youth pastors Danny and Kim Lopez who are now missionaries in Guatemala.

“We are passionate to partner with our missionaries, Danny and Kim, with the work they do in Guatemala, and we’re excited to share this with our community,” Miller said.

Following the race, a ceremony was held naming the male and female overall winners and the winners in each age division.

Drake Hamilton won the males 0-14 division, while Hannah Wiley won the female 10-14 division.

Cade Wilemon, Aaron Estes, Brian Bradford and Blake Bradford crossed the finish line together and won the 15-24 male division and Lauren Estes won the 15-24 female division.

Vinemont Elementary Principal Tony Johnson won the 35-44-male division. Jan Washam won the 55 and over women’s division.

The overall male winner was Josh Dobosz while overall female winner was Jessica Clanton. In the 25-34 age group, Brad Coam finished first in the men’s division while Julie Coam won the women’s division. Becky Allen notched a first-place finish in the female 35-44 class.

For ages 45-54, Mike Durant and Cindy Reeder were the top finishers for male and female divisions, respectively.

Chris Robson won the 55-and-over men’s division.

Fairivew-The Grace Place plans to host another Midnight run next year.
