District 3 pickup stolen from shop

A pickup truck was stolen in broad daylight from the District 3 shop near Falkville on Sat., May 4, at approximately 8 a.m., according to District 3 Commissioner Don Stisher.

Stisher said the 2004 model extended cab truck was secured inside a locked fence. The thief gained entrance by cutting a lock on the gate and was able to leave with the vehicle after finding its keys inside a dashboard receptacle.

“A neighbor came by as the truck was leaving the shop,” Stisher said. “She knew we were closed on Saturdays and called 911. Falkville police and the Sheriff’s Department responded immediately and were able to determine that the thief left town on I-65, going south.

The vehicle had not been located as of Thur., May 16; however, law enforcement is continuing the investigation.

Stisher said the truck was used by his personnel on a daily basis and will have to be replaced if not found.

“I’ll probably seek permission to replace it at the next regular commission meeting if it is not located before then,” he added.
