Crossroads will become Falkville’s ambulance service provider on June 28, according to Mayor Bob Ramey.

As of May 29, the Town of Falkville notified County EMS that their services would no longer be needed and gave them a 30-day notice that it will terminate its agreement. All emergency calls will dispatch to Crossroads EMS of Somerville beginning June 28.

Ramey told the Falkville Town Council during a meeting Tuesday that County EMS will be contacted for emergency services before that date. Crossroads EMS will be on standby if County EMS does not respond.

Crossroads EMS was allowed to respond to non-emergency and basic life support calls beginning June 5 since Falkville does not dispatch these calls. It has already secured an office building on Buster Road in Falkville.

The Falkville Town Council also approved a contract between the town of Falkville and citizens Ryland and Rebekah Wilson.

Falkville is currently working on a drainage system that includes a drainage easement on the Wilsons’ property. This contract will allow the Wilsons to construct a fence around their property, enclosing the drainage easement, as long as the fence does not interfere with the use, efficiency or effectiveness of the drainage facility.

In other business, the council:

• Approved Ramey’s Alabama/Florida Joint Technical Training Conference with the Alabama Rural Water Association cost of $50 plus lodging and expenses.

• Approved Chief Chris Free’s Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police biannual training cost of $200 plus lodging and expenses

• Approved an amendment to an existing contract to authorize a joint funding agreement to decrease Falkville’s contribution from $15,900 to $7,950 to operate a data-collection station on Flint Creek.

• Approved a design contract with Leonard Designs P.C. to expand the Falkville Municipal Building.

• Addressed issues raised by citizen Ryland Wilson concerning problems with the town’s construction of a drainage easement on his property.

• Approved a John Deere 2030 tractor and a 1983 Ford F350 flatbed truck to be declared as surplus.
