Mildred M. Stephenson

Funeral for Mildred M. Stephenson, 100, of Hartselle will be Wed., (today), June 19, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jack Redfearn Jr. and Jack Bailey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Herring Cemetery.

Mrs. Stephenson died Mon., June 17, 2013. She was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Morgan County to Henry Elias Morris and Rebecca Jane Morris. She was a homemaker and an associate librarian at West Hartselle Baptist Church where she was a member. She was a member of Hopewell Homemakers Club for 62 years and read the Bible through every year from 1965 to 2012. Her creed was “Do unto others as you would have done unto you.” She graduated from Danville High School as valedictorian and was married to Bill R. Stephenson for 74 years. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Jimmy F. Stephenson; and a great-grandson, Wesley Emerson.

She is survived by a daughter, Janie S “Ginger” Nolen and husband Charles; daughter-in-law, Betty S. Harpe; three grandchildren, Suzanne Stephenson, Jennifer Garner and husband Jeff and J. Fred Stephenson and wife Mary; and four great-grandchildren, Stratton Garner and wife Kayla, Maggie Cunningham and husband Charlie, Stedman Garner and Sarah Stephenson.

Pallbearers will be Fred Stephenson, Jeff Garner, Stratton Garner, Stedman Garner, Wayne Allen and Sol Johnson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the West Hartselle Baptist Church library, the church building fund or a favorite charity.
