Rowe hosts McKendree UMC Ladies Night Out

The McKendree United Methodist Church Ladies Night Out group met at the home of Frances Rowe, on Tues., June 11. They enjoyed supper and project planning. Some of the members will be helping with the Methodist Youth Area Mission week, which will be held June 18-23. Members will also be involved with the vacation Bible school in July. Those that enjoyed and attended the ladies night out meeting were Lynn Hogan, Peggy Durand, Beth Shelton, Sally Kerr, Melee Laney and Frances Rowe.

I would like to extend a special welcome home to John Black this week. He recently returned home after serving his country in Afghanistan. God bless you John, and God bless all of our brave young men and women who are fighting for the United States of America and for our Freedom.

The Falkville Public Library Summer Reading Program “Dig In and Read” will begin on Tues., July 2, at 2 p.m. in the town hall courtroom. All sessions will be on Thursday in the same location. On July 11, Helen Sterbutzel will present a program on Worms and Composting. On July 18, Cooks Pest Control will bring information and demonstrations about Underground Animals. On July 25, Vulcan Materials will present their program on Fossils. The programs will be of interest to the adults as well as the youth. There will be a pizza party for the children, parents, volunteers and program leaders. All events are free and area children are welcome. Reading is a wonderful way to spend summer hours and can be fun! Participants will turn in their summer reading totals and awards and prizes will be given.

The McKendree United Methodist Church Youth enjoyed attending the Building 429 concert at the Decatur Baptist Church on Tues., June 11. Kevin and Stephanie Crawley are the youth leaders at McKendree Church.

Get well wishes go out this week for Bobbie Nix who had surgery on Tues., June 11. She is home and recovering now. Many of us know Bobbie from her 20 years of working at Weekdays Deli in Hartselle, where she provided food and fun.

Special happy birthday wishes go out this week to Jada Moore and Ronnie McCaghren on June 19, Bari Camper and Dewayne Eddy on June 21 and Dale Bibb on June 23.

Special belated happy wedding anniversary wishes go out this week for Daniel and Minnie Johnson. They celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary Tues., June 18.

Wonderful happy wedding anniversary wishes go out this week for Steve and Mary Terry as they celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary Fri., June 21 , and Brad and Sherry Anderson as they celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary Sat., June 22.
