Smyth, Davis exchange vows

Jodie Deanna Smyth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John William Smyth of Hartselle, and Jonathan Robert Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Davis of Trenton and Ms. Deborah Thrower Davis of Trenton, were married June 2, 2012, at 1 p.m. in Holmes Chapel at the Decatur Baptist Church with Brother Todd Gipson, grandfather of the groom, officiating.

Jodie is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Cartledge of Birmingham and Mrs. Davene Smyth and the late Mr. and Mrs. William L. Smyth of West Blocton. Jonathan is the grandson of Mr. Robert Thrower and the late Mrs. Thrower of Trenton and Mr. and Mrs. Todd Gipson of Trenton.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

The bride wore a strapless white gown with a sweetheart neckline, adorned with crystals and lace. Her bouquet was lilies and daisies accented with peacock feathers.

Jamie Smyth of Nashville, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. She wore a baby-blue strapless tea-length dress with a bouquet of daisies.

Mr. Larry Davis, father of the groom, was the best man. Ring bearer was Eli Anderson.

Acting as ushers were Justin Welsh of Trenton, cousin of the groom, and Matt Treadgold of England.

A reception was held after the ceremony at Decatur Baptist Church. Mrs. Alison Knoblock and Ms. Theresa Stier, both of Decatur, assisted with the reception.

The bride’s cake was three-tiered and decorated with pale blue ribbon, lilies, daisies and peacock feathers. The groom’s cake was made by the groom’s step-mother, Carolyn Davis. It was an Alabama cake representing the groom’s love of Alabama football.

Mrs. Jennifer Butler of Decatur was the wedding director and Ms. Mallory Martin of Hartselle kept the bridal book.

The couple honeymooned in Breckenridge, Colo. They reside in Hartselle.

The rehearsal diner was hosted by the groom’s family with Casual Gourmet in Decatur.

Prenuptial parties included a wedding shower at Paint Rock Missionary Baptist Church hosted by the groom’s family and friends, a shower at the home of Sharon Collier of Decatur hosted by Sharon Collier and Kelly White and a lingerie shower at the home of Melinda and Mallory Martin of Hartselle.
