Rev. Elmer N. Rollins

Funeral for the Rev. Elmer N. Rollins, 87, of Decatur will be Wed., June 26, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Henderson officiating. His grandchildren will read a poem and Peck Funeral Home will direct.

Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery.

Rev. Rollins died Sun., June 23, 2013, at his residence. He was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Morgan County to Andrew Vandy Rollins and Nettie Roberts Rollins.  Rev. Rollins was a retired minister from Chapel Baptist and also Bell Springs Baptist. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard the NRS-Birmingham, AL, NTC-Great Lakes, IU, Tad.- Cen Shoemaker, CA, USS Graffias (AF-29), and USS Molaia (ATF-106). He received victory medals and an Asiatic Pacific Medal. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Rollins of Decatur, two sons, Delmer Rollins and wife Sonja of Pensacola, Fla. and Hoyt Rollins and wife Debra of Decatur; four daughters: Helen Guess and husband Paul of Decatur, Darlene Parker and husband Gary, Marquita Heaps and husband Rodney of Trinity and Tammy Moebes and husband Joe of Priceville, 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren

Pallbearers will be Josh Parker, Dan Mackey, Shawn Barber, Gary Parker, Noah Earls, Darrell Beck. Delmer Rollins II and Steve Kellum.
