Funeral for Gene Duncan, 73, of Hartselle will be Sun., June 30, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Newby officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Moss Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be Sat., June 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Duncan died Thurs., June 27, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Fri., Nov. 10, 1939, in Morgan County to J.D. Duncan and Opal Lawrence Duncan. Mr. Duncan was formerly employed by TVA under Stone-Webster Engineering as a painter and self employed by Duncan Painting. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of the VFW Post 4190 of Decatur and a Big Alabama Football fan. He loved the outdoors and was a hard worker. Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Sparkman Duncan; a brother, Doug Duncan; and two sisters, Debbie and Gail.

He is survived by a son, Joey Duncan of Hartselle; two daughters, Gena Duncan Baxter and husband Gary of Hartselle and Vicki V. Landers and husband Jeff, of Decatur; two brothers, Billy Duncan and wife Laverne of Griffin, Ga. and Frankie Duncan and wife Gail of Moulton; a sister, Judy Harms of Moulton; four grandchildren, Ashley Robertson and husband Brandon, Caitlin Baxter, Zach Landers and Cameron Baxter; two great grandchildren, Ava Robertson and Emily Robertson; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Allen.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Robertson, Glen Hollingsworth, Gary Baxter, Jody Vinzant, Brentz Pitt and Justin Barley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Landers, Zach Landers and Joe Sparkman.
