BOE to discuss superintendent contract today

The Hartselle Board of Education is planning to meet today to discuss and possibly approve a contract with new superintendent Dr. Paul “Vic” Wilson with a starting date of July 15.

BOE president Dr. James Joy said Wilson’s contract will be modeled after the Athens superintendent’s contract.

“Dr. Wilson is good friends with the Athens superintendent,” Joy said in a phone interview Monday. “I think everyone is happy with the contract. I don’t forsee any problems at this time.”

Joy said he wouldn’t release Wilson’s salary until after the board approves the contract, which could occur at a special called meeting today at 4 p.m.

Prior to that meeting, the board will interview its chief school financial officer candidates. Tina Parris will be interviewed first at 1 p.m. followed by Maria Glover at 2 p.m. and Jonathan Craft at 3 p.m.

“Dr. Wilson is planning to sit in on the interviews,” Joy said. “We wanted to get his input on the CSFO because he will be working hand-in-hand with the new CSFO.”
