Dedication of library bench

The Falkville Public Library held a dedication on Sun., June 30, for a library bench in memory of the late Vernon Ayre.

Mayor Bob Ramey gave the invocation and Rhona Summerford, a member of the library board, spoke on behalf of the board of directors. Jenny Asher-branner, the librarian, spoke of Mr. Ayre’s accomplishments while serving on the library board.

Family members attending this event were Mr. Ayre’s wife, Margaret Ayre and their son, Vernon Ayre Jr. and his wife, Rachel and their children, Sarah, Kim, Vanessa and Vernon Ayre III, and Mr. Ayre’s daughters, Donna Stooks-berry and husband and Ronnie and Mary Comer and husband Randy.

Bible school will be held at Falkville First Baptist Church July 15-19 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Birthday wishes are extended to John Lockhart, July 5; Ronna Halbrooks July 16; and Dennett Wood, July 19.

Wishes are sent from members of First Baptist Church in Falkville.
