Incoming superintendent’s salary set at $132,000

The Hartselle Board of Education has approved a $132,000 contract offer for incoming Superintendent Dr. Vic Wilson.

School Board President Dr. James Joy said the contract doesn’t include incentives at this time. Details of the contract were not immediately available since Wilson had not signed the contract as of July 3.

“We’ve talked that over with the board’s attorney and that’s something we can add at a later time,” Joy said. “I think the board will look at adding some incentives in the future.”

Wilson said he’s excited about the chance to lead Hartselle City Schools.

“It’s a great opportunity for myself and our family and a chance for us to grow,” Wilson said. “I think my past experience has prepared me to be a school superintendent. I look forward to this chance.”

Wilson said he will have three students in the school system once his family gets moved to Hartselle. One will be a senior while the other two will be in fifth and eighth grades.

Joy said his contract will begin July 15. Until that time, the board unanimously appointed Dr. Nancy Horton to be interim superintendent through July 14.
