Community Calendar for July 17

July 17

LifeSouth will hold a blood drive at Decatur Morgan Hospital July 17, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

July 18

Valley Rubber, located at 150 Buster Rd. in Falkville, will have a ribbon cutting and open house at its new facility location in Falkville Thur., July 18, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

 

Hartselle Parks and Recreation is hosting Grandpa’s Got Talent July 18 at 10 a.m. at Sparkman Civic Center. We are looking for singers, storytellers, dancers, yodelers, kazoo players and any other talented guys with grandchildren. Prizes will be given and its free to sign up. Register at your local senior center or at Sparkman Civic Center by July 15.

 

Hartselle Chamber of Commerce will have a Total Resource Campaign kick-off Thur., July 18, at 4 p.m.

 

Cook’s Pest Control will conduct the Falkville Public Library Summer Reading Program on “Underground Animals.” The event begins at 2 p.m. in the Falkville Town Hall courtroom.

 

July 19

Hartselle Parks and Recreation will have its annual princess party at Sparkman Civic Center July 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for ages 5-8. We will play games, make tiaras, play make-up and have “tea” at noon, so wear princess attire. Cost is $10. Please register by July 15.

 

July 20

Hartselle Parks and Recreation will sponsor its annual luau at Hartselle Aquatic Center July 20 from 8 to 10 p.m. There will be special music, tropical decorations, exciting games and Hawaiian leis for everyone. Cost is $5. Season pool passes will not be honored during the luau.

 

July 23

The Danville High School basketball camp will be July 23-26 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. each day. The cost will be $50 per camper. The camp will be for students in grades second through ninth grades. Brochures and mail-in early registration forms are available at https://www.facebook.com/DanvilleHSAthletics. July 24

Depot Days Committee meets Wed., July 24, at 8 a.m.

 

Morgan County 4-H is hosting a cake-decorating workshop at the Morgan County Extension Office Wed., July 24, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Registration deadline is July 9, class is $6. Students will learn basic cake decorating and take home the beautiful cake they decorated.

 

July 25

The Falkville Public Library concludes the Summer Reading Program with Vulcan Materials’ presentation about “Fossils” at 2 p.m. at the Falkville Town Hall courtroom. Participants will turn in their reading totals and prizes will be given. Immediately after will be a pizza party.

 

July 26

Apple’s Florist in Falkville will have a ribbon cutting, Fri., July 26, at 10 a.m.

 

July 29

Hartselle AYSO will have its annual clinic July 29 through Aug. 2. For more information, call Sparkman Civic Center at 256-773-2581.

The Hartselle Chamber of Commerce will host Networking at Noon Wed., July 30, at noon.

 

Aug. 1

Total Resource Campaign will meet for lunch Thur., Aug. 1, at noon.

 

The Hartselle Chamber of Commerce will have Thursday Scoops each Thursday during August from 2 to 2:30 p.m.

 

The City of Hartselle will host the Morgan County Mayor/Clerk/ Commissioner Monthly Dinner Meeting Thurs., Aug. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Freight House Restaurant on Railroad Street in Hartselle.

 

Aug. 3

The 79th annual Sandlin family reunion wlll be Sat., Aug. 3, at the Fort Decatur Recreation Center Gym, located at 610 Fourth St. in Decatur. Anyone with the last name of Sandlin, or related to the Sandlin family is welcome. Fun and fellowship (in air conditioned comfort) is promised from 10 a.m. until the last person leaves. Come bring your family, cameras and scrapbooks and visit with those cousins you haven’t seen in ages and some you haven’t heard of or never met. A covered dish meal will be served at noon.
