Lybarger, Hill to compete in North-South volleyball game

Two members of Hartselle High School’s 2013 5A state championship volleyball team will compete at the AHSAA All-Star Sports Week with members of the North All-Stars team.

Taylor Lybarger and Melissa-Paul Hill, both rising seniors, will join 10 other outstanding players representing North Alabama. Taylor is an outside hitter and Hill is a setter.

They will face the South-All-Stars on Thurs., July 16, at 4 p.m. The match will be played in the Tine Davis Gym on the Faulkner University campus in Montgomery.

Hartselle has had volleyball players on North All-Star teams before but never two on the same team, said head coach Tanya Lybarger.

“It’s an honor for our program and it’s going to be fun watching Taylor and Melissa-Paul playing with girls they’ve never played with before,” Lybarger said. “They will also be preparing for the match under the direction of new coaches. That’s an experience that should benefit them because you can always learn something new from another coach.

“Our players have participated in two camps during the past 10 days,” Lybarger added.

“Both of our all-stars did well and should be ready to go on Thursday.”
