Squirrel causes power outage
Monday morning’s brief power outage at around 9 a.m. was caused by a squirrel getting into the district substation at U.S. 31 and Alabama 36 and shorting out the equipment, according to Hartselle Utilities General Manager Bob Sittason.
A large number of the city’s customers from Kroger north and northeast experienced a power loss for about five minutes.
“Fortunately, we had a crew close by,” Sittason said. “They found the dead squirrel and the problem without having to spend a lot of time tracking it down.”
