Bank, Nucor raise money for Okla. victims

Bank Independent and Nucor Steel raised $23,391 for the families affected by the deadly tornadoes in Moore, Okla. this past May.

Nucor Steel Decatur and Bank Independent locations across the nation created the Oklahoma Tornado Relief Fund. Nucor Steel matched every dollar donated, up to $10,000 and made an additional $5,000 donation.

Nucor Steel Decatur team members personally distributed all the proceeds in Moore, Okla., July 9. Eight Nucor members traveled to the area and met with city officials to identify recipients, giving them $50 and $100 gift cards.

David Matthews, Decatur-Morgan County Bank Independent Area President coordinated the partnership with Nucor.
