West Park is in line to receive a number of upgrades aimed at making it more aesthetically pleasing and visitor friendly.

Bids were opened Tues., July 23, and will be checked to make sure they meet specifications before being presented to the Morgan County Commission for consideration, according to District 2 Commissioner Randy Vest.

Five separate projects are involved. They include the addition of a pavilion and restrooms at the new soccer field, all new playground equipment, a press box at the football field, and the remodeling of the concession stands and restrooms at the football and baseball fields.

Vest said he expects contracts to be awarded and construction to begin before the fall football season starts.

“We’ll work around sports activities,” he added, “and it will probably take a year to complete all of the work.”
