The MCHS Class of 1959 will have its fourth annual “Meet ‘n Eat” Thur., Aug. 15, at 6 p.m. at Sedona Steakhouse. All class members, spouses, and/or guests are invited. Aug. 17

The Edd Balch Memorial Scholarship Fund will sponsor an Evening of Entertainment at the new Hartselle High School Auditorium Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. They are seeking volunteers to participate in this variety-type show – singing (solos or groups), instrumental individuals or groups, dancing, dramatic reading, etc. Anyone who was directed by Edd or performed with him in a theater production or sang with him in Decatur Civic Chorus concerts are encouraged to participate. Proceeds will help pay for $1,000 scholarships to at least three local college students.

Dale Serrano Studio of Performing Arts: Once again, Dale Serrano Studio of Performing Arts of Birmingham will be instructing ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop to boys and girls ages 2 1/2 through adult. Aerobics classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday at the Sparkman Civic Center, at 8 a.m. This class is taught by Mellonie Chappell and is for all ages. It’s the perfect opportunity to lose a few pounds and gain new friends at the same time. The fee is $25 per month or $10 per visit. The first class is free.

 

Senior Nutrition Center: Are you age 60 or older and think you would enjoy mystery trips, monthly birthday parties, hymn book singing, puzzles, card games, listening to live performances of country legend songs and more? Then the Hartselle Senior Center is the place for you! Along with these fun filled activities, a nutritious meal is also served. The suggested daily donation is $1.25. If you would like to attend and don’t have transportation, a bus is available to pick you up and take you home again for a suggested fee of $1 each way. For more information call 256-773-0786.

 

The Hartselle Civitan Club meets the first and third Monday at 6 p.m. in Sparkman Civic Center Room 10. The club works with Civitan International to support and work with people in our community with mental and physical disabilities. They also support the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham. Civitan is the only civic club with a research center. Hartselle Civitan Club was responsible for starting the Special Needs Accessible Playground located directly behind the Sparkman Civic Center. Priceville Palace hosts a Big Band Swing with the Sophisticated Swingers on the first Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Every Saturday night Glenn Wood and the Crosscut Band is featured. All mothers of active duty reserve or honorably discharged military service members are invited to attend monthly meetings of Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. The Morgan County Chapter meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at East Highland Baptist Church in Hartselle.

 

The Hartselle Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous meets Mondays at 8 p.m.; Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m.; Wednesdays at noon and 8 p.m.; Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.; Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 7 p.m. The Friday meeting is a smoking meeting. Hartselle’s Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at noon at Sedona Steak House.

Hartselle’s New Beginnings Quilt Guild meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of First Christian Church on East Main Street. It is open to all who are interested in quilt making, The guild is focused on beginning quilt makers to help them learn how to make a new block each month and new techniques used to make them. Baton class at Sparkman Civic Center is $40 per month. Learn the basics of twirl on Mondays. Students must be 5 years old and have her own baton.

 

Head Over Heels Tumbling: Attention gymnasts. Sign up for the beginning tumbling class to start you on your way. Tumbling class meets every Thur. afternoon at the Sparkman Civic Center. Ages 2-5 meet at 4 p.m.. Ages 6-10 meet at 5:15, and ages 11 and older meet at 6:30 p.m. The fee is $40 per month.
