Corum’s Building and Farm Center has been doing business in Hartselle since September 1972.

During those almost 42 years, they have been in three different locations. Since moving to their current location, they haven’t changed the store’s appearance in the last 15 years.

Corum’s recently changed from a Do It Best Corp. distributor to an Ace Hardware cooperative. Owner Jim Corum runs the store with the help of his sons, Kevin and Reggie, and several other employees. Corum said he decided to make the switch because he thought it would benefit both his business and customers.

“Switching to Ace Hardware is good for us and our customers,” Corum said. “We will be able to offer a better variety of products to meet the needs of customers, including an entirely new line of great quality paint. Ace Hardware also conducts plenty of national advertisement. Hopefully putting this new face on the store will help draw more attention.”

Corum feels the new switch will make them more competitive without losing their neighborly touch.

“Ace gives us tremendous buying power, which will make us more competitive in today’s market,” Corum said. “I feel this will help us compete with big box stores, but still be helpful to customers. We will offer the same friendly service we always have with the same experienced staff, most of which have been here over 15 years. We are trying to create a bigger, brighter experience for our customers, because customers and employees are Corum’s greatest asset.”
