The Hartselle Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association is sponsoring a Gun Safety Class Aug. 31 at 8 a.m. to noon at Hartselle Utilities.
This comprehensive course will provide hands-on training in the basic knowledge necessary to safely handle, load, fire and maintain most types of handguns. It will provide a foundation of knowledge and skills for the new shooter to operate their handgun in a safe and efficient manner.
The course takes approximately four hours to complete. Each class is limited to 10 individuals to give as much one-on-one instruction as possible. Each class will include shooting 50 rounds on a close range target.
Classes will be separated into instruction for revolvers and semi-automatics. The course will advertise the date, time and which type of handgun will be presented during the course of instruction.
This course is also available to individuals who have not yet purchased a handgun for self-protection. These individuals may observe the class and will not be required to participate in the shooting portion. Participants must be 21 years of age to attend.
