Howard Lee Jones

A memorial service for Howard Lee Jones, 75, was Wed. (today), Aug., 14, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jack M. Redfearn and Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Jones died Sun., Aug. 11, 2013, at Cherokee Indian Hospital. He was born March 16, 1938, in Tennessee to Henry Lee Jones and Annie (Richards) Jones. Mr. Jones was married for 53 years to his wife Gerry, a retired educator who taught at Crestline Elementary. He was formerly employed at the Tool Crib, Inc. as a manufacturing engineer, and he worked as a machinist and engineer in Florida and Tennessee. He was a graduate of Munford High School in Tennessee and the University of West Florida in Pensacola. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking and copper making. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed being at the ballfield with is grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Olan Jones; and a sister, Mable Perry.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Woods Jones of Hartselle; a son, Nathan Alan “Casey” Jones and wife Susan of Hartselle; a daughter, Lynn Jones Sells and husband Joe of Pittsburgh, Penn.; a brother, Clarence Jones of Tennessee; three sisters: Floy Johnson of Florida, Ivy Ruth Himmaugh of Mississippi and Rita Faye Laxton of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Kaleb Jones, Jenna Jones and Lily Freeman.
