James Kyle Lindsey

Funeral for James Kyle Lindsey, 85, of Danville was Tues., Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. at Danville Baptist Church with the Revs. Jack Bailey, Joe David Bailey and J. Wayne Penn officiating.

Burial with military honors was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Lindsey died Sat., Aug. 10, 2013, at his home. He was born August 15, 1927, in Morgan County to James Truman Lindsey and Effie Ola Penn Lindsey. He loved his family and his church. He could be seen on Danville Road mowing or enjoying the sunshine in the front yard in the swing. He retired from Wolverine Tube with 40 years of service. Many trips and friends were made raising cattle through the years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mary Bretha Gann, Bonnie Chenault and Judy Mauffray and two nephews, Greg Gann and Doug Chenault.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Thompson Lindsey, a son, James Rex Lindsey of Madison, two daughters, Becky Lindsey Horn and husband Mike of Decatur and Rita Lindsey Griffin and husband Larry of Cocoa Beach, Fla., a granddaughter; Lindsey Griffin of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; a niece, Marsha Gann McLemore; and a nephew, Donnie Mauffray.

Pallbearers were Joe Fitzgerald, John Tanner, Jared Tanner, Gary Bell, Jerry Segars and Frankie Morris.

Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday school class: Gary and Joyce Anders, Bobby and Vanda Canant, Roger and Dot Burcham, Ruth Livingston, Emogene Livingston, Mary Jewel Roberts, Mavis Fitzgerald, Ken Tapscott, Mike Halbrooks and M.D. Prater.

Special thanks to all his care providers and caregivers through the last few months.
