Ryan School property sold
Morgan County Schools has accepted a bid of $203,025 from Pete Deby of Hanceville for the purchase of the Ryan School property in southeast Morgan County.
Bids were opened Monday and Deby was the only bidder, according to Lee Willis, deputy superintendent.
“He (Deby) met all of the qualifications set out in the bid package,” Willis said, “and the school board voted earlier to authorize the superintendent to accept the best bid.”
Willis said the sale would be closed within the next 30 days.
The property consists of the K-8 school building, an unattached lunchroom and 5.6 acres of land.
The school was closed in 2011 after its students were transferred to Union Hill School. Property was put on the market for sale in 2011.
