Thomas L. Bonds, Sr.

A graveside service for Thomas L. Bonds, Sr., 82, of Iuka, Miss., will be Fri., Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Fri., Aug. 23, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Bonds died Wed., Aug. 21, 2013, at Southern Magnolia Assisted Living. He was born in Iuka, Miss. to Tom and Elizabeth Bonds. He was a native of Iuka, Miss. where he attended Iuka High School and joined the service at the age of 17. He completed his education while in the military. Mr. Bonds was retired from the Air Force as Master Sergeant of the Security Police and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He served in the Korean War and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a graduate of the FBI academy in 1976. Mr. Bonds also retired as Lieutenant from TVA Public Safety and later worked as a volunteer for BBI. He was a past Member of the Board of Volunteers of America and also a member of the Masonic Lodge #94 in Iuka and was a Shriner. Before his illnesses, he was in business as a Private Investigator searching for missing persons. He attended First Christian Church in Hartselle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; a sister, Mildred Allred; and his parents, Tom and Elizabeth Bonds.

He is survived by a son, Thomas L. Bonds, Jr., of Decatur; two brothers, Raymond Bonds and Bobby Bonds, both of Iuka, Miss.; two sisters, Catherine Daily and Sandra Bunch, both of Iuka, Miss.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
