CCC announces Artwork challenge

The Committee on Church Cooperation (CCC) has announced plans for a Community Artwork Challenge as the first of several events to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The artwork challenge is open to ages 6-10, 11-17 and 18 and up.

Sought are original drawings, paintings, sketches or other wall artwork that accurately illustrates some, or all, of the assistance that CCC has provided to the community for 40 years.

The deadline for submission is Sept. 30, 2013. Artwork can be brought to the CCC at 119 1st Ave NE, Decatur or mailed to CCC, P.O. Box 131, Decatur, AL 35602.

Winners will be announced Sept. 27 and each will be recognized as the recipient of a framed certificate of recognition.

CCC provides the following services to those in need:

•Emergency food through its Food Pantry

•Hot meals through the Food For the Soul Soup Kitchen

•Clothing distribution through the Clothes Closet

•Distribution of furniture, basic household items and linens to individuals in need

•Emergency household set up after a devastating loss due to a disaster

•Special assistance for infants and children

•Gasoline vouchers to clients who need assistance traveling to Huntsville or Birmingham for doctor appointments

•Emergency prescription assistance

•Provision of school supplies to 400+ children each August

•Coordination of family sponsorship during the Christmas season
