Funeral for Lola Pearl Foote, 100, of Naperville, Ill., will be at Salem United Methodist Church at a later date.
Mrs. Foote died Sat., Aug. 31, 2013. She was born Dec. 15, 1912, in Hartselle to Edmund and Ella Mae McElvana Stevens. A lifelong Methodist, she served as Sunday school teacher and in many other active rolls at several churches for over 80 years. She was a member of Salem United Methodist for more than 30 years and later an active member of Disciples United Church in Houston, Texas from 1965 to 1990 and First United Methodist Church at Cleveland, Texas for the next ten years. She always found a job that needed doing wherever she was. Her last years were spent at Tabor Hills Retirement Home and Alden Estates in Naperville, Ill., near her daughter, granddaughter and great-grandchildren. She was always able to adjust to her circumstances no matter how they changed and probably right now she’s singing the praises and organizing a game of “spinner” with some of her old friends who are with her now in Heaven. Mrs. Foote was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Foote in 1955; a brother, James Olin Stevens; and a grandson Carter Angus McDonald.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Frances McDonald of Aurora, Ill., Bobby Earl Foote and his wife Sarah of Plum Grove, Texas; grandchildren, Gene Foote and wife Dana of Houston, Texas, Carla McDonald Pope and husband Alex of Naperville, Ill., Jason Troy Foote of Plum Grove, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Katie and Jared Foote of Houston, Texas, Nicholas, Madison, Dylan and Logan Pope of Naperville, Ill.; several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
