Sept. 15

The Depot Days Community Worship Service will be Sun., Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at West Hartselle Baptist Church. Guest speaker for the evening is the Rev. Charlie Brown from Salem United Methodist Church The Hartselle Ministerial Association hosts this event every year. A love offering will be taken up to help transients with gas and food as they pass through Hartselle. We invite you to join us in praise and worship.

Sept. 16

Hartselle Depot Days will present its annual Down Memory Sept. 16 at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center. Displays will open at 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. This year’s theme is “Hartselle’s Heroes, Saluting the Hartselle Police Department and Hartselle Fire Department.” Admission is free.

The Hartselle Board of Education will have a work session and regular meeting at 6 p.m. at the central office.

Sept. 17

The Hartselle Library Board will meet Tues., Sept. 17t at 5:15 p.m. at the library.

College Street Players in conjunction with Hartselle Depot Days presents “The Great Hartselle Bank Robbery of 1926” Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center. The play will be directed by directed by Dena Nagel. It was written by Martine Sharp with Student Writers – John Ballew and Rachel McKelvy. Tickets are $5 at the door. Seating is limited. Come learn about one of the greatest unsolved crimes that occurred right here in our hometown, Hartselle, Alabama.

Sept. 19

The Hartselle High School Choral Department will present its annual Depot Days concert Sept. 19 at Daystar Church Hartselle Campus. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include all of the choirs, under the direction of Kate Dupuis.

Sept. 21

The annual Depot Days 5K will be at Quail Creek Golf Resort and Convention Center Sat., Sept. 21, at 7 a.m. All participants of the Depot Days 5K will need to check in between 6:15 and 6:45 a.m. at Quail Creek. Late registration will also be held during this timeframe. The top three men and women finishers in each age category will receive an award. Special awards will be given to the overall male and female finishers. Long sleeve shirts will be given to the first 120 registered participants in the 5k race. Race applications can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce or can be printed off the chamber’s website at www.hartsellechamber.com. Runners can also register via Active.com by searching Depot Days 5K.

Hartselle Depot Days will be Sept. 21 in downtown Hartselle. The following is a list of activities scheduled for the day. At 8 a.m., vendors, the art show and the children’s art show open while the car, truck and bike show and gasoline engine show begin. At 8:30 a.m., the art show judging begins. The Ray Sparks Band will play at 9 a.m. on the Hartselle Enquirer Stage. At 11 a.m., Jeff Whitlow and the Old Barn Band will play on the Hartselle Enquirer Stage followed by Paige Barnes at 1 p.m. At 1:30 p.m., the Will Sterling Band will be performing. Meet the 2013 Depot Days Pageant winners at 2:15 p.m. Preacher will take the stage at 2:30 p.m. On the Hartselle Enquirer Stage, The Barnstormers take the stage at 3:30 p.m. while the Car, Truck and Bike Show Ends. The Depot Days antique tractor show will be Sat., Sept 21, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on South Sparkman Street in a parking area adjacent to farmer’s market.. Buzzy’s Jewelry is a Tractor Show sponsor.

The Hartselle Kiwanis Club is co-sponsoring the Hartselle Thirteen One Half Marathon Sept. 21, at 7 a.m. at Quail Creek Golf Resort and Convention Center. Registration deadline is Sept. 18. The race is limited to the first 300 registered participants. Entry fee is $65 or $200 for a four-person team. Registration is available online at hartsellehalfmarathon.com.

Eva Frontier Days 2013 kicks off Sat., Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. with a beauty pageant at Journey Church. For more information contact Daphne Sloas at 256-507-3686. At 3 p.m., there will be a Bluegrass Jam Session at Eva School. The WORLD’S LARGEST HAYRIDE, as a part of will take place at Eva Saddle Club (Frost Road) Tues., Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. It costs $1 to ride and you get a hot dog and canned drink at the end of the ride.

The Eva Frontier Days community singing will take place Thur., Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Eva.

Sept. 27

Eva Frontier Days’ Music on the Square will be Sept. 27 at 4-way at Eva. Time and bands will be announced at a later time.

Oct. 3

Senior Nutrition Center: Are you age 60 or older and think you would enjoy mystery trips, monthly birthday parties, hymn book singing, puzzles, card games, listening to live performances of country legend songs and more? Then the Hartselle Senior Center is the place for you! Along with these fun filled activities, a nutritious meal is also served. The suggested daily donation is $1.25. The Hartselle Civitan Club meets the first and third Monday at 6 p.m. in Sparkman Civic Center Room 10. The club works with Civitan International to support and work with people in our community with mental and physical disabilities. They also support the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham. Civitan is the only civic club with a research center. Hartselle Civitan Club was responsible for starting the Special Needs Accessible Playground located directly behind the Sparkman Civic Center.
