Harold ‘Bill’ Sanders

Funeral for Harold “Bill” Sanders, 87, of Hartselle will be Fri., Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Shoal Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Fri., Sept. 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Sanders died Wed., Sept. 11, 2013, at his residence. He was born Nov. 18, 1925, in Morgan County to Thomas Joseph Sanders and Bernice Grace Bentley. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. He was formerly employed at Jimmy Smith Jewelers as a Security Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons; James and Kelly Sanders.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Cole Sanders of Hartselle; a son, Joseph Sanders of Bartlett, Tenn.; two step-sons, Darrell Lackey and Thomas Lackey of Hartselle; one step-daughter, Sandra Prater of Hartselle; a brother, Wayne Sanders of Montevallo; a sister, Hilda Hudson of Decatur; four grandchildren, Brian Sanders of Indianapolis, Ind., Adam Sanders of Bartlett, Tenn., Matthew Sanders of Dixon, Ill., and Karen Sanders, Dixon, Ill.; a great-grandchild, Chase Kinard, Indianapolis, Ind.; and best friend, Amanda Vinson.
