HPD looks at renting IRC building
The Hartselle Police Department is eyeing an agreement with Hartselle City Schools to lease the old IRC building at the Hartselle Junior High School campus.
Police Chief Ron Puckett said he was approached by School Superintendent Vic Wilson about using the facility. If the agreement can be reached, Puckett plans to use it as an office for school resource officers and as a training facility for the department.
Puckett said the department would assume the costs of the utilities. Other than that, Wilson said the city could use the facility for free.
“I think it’s a win-win situation for both parties,” Puckett said.
Puckett added that the department would give up its office at the Housing Authority if it decided to use the IRC facility.
Wilson said the facility recently had a new roof installed.
