Lady Tigers win Eddie Preuitt tourney

The Hartselle Lady Tigers (22-10) held off the Oak Mountain Lady Eagles to win the inaugural Eddie Preuitt Ford Volleyball Tournament Saturday, the first volleyball tournament held at on the new campus.

Hartselle won the championship match against Oak Mountain 25-13, 18-25, 16-14. Senior Taylor Lybarger led the way with eight kills and 12 digs while senior Haley Jared and freshman Megan Zuck each added seven kills. Jared also had 11 digs, four blocks and an ace.

Fellow senior Melissa-Paul Hill had 13 assists, three kills, an ace and a dig. Sarah Ellen Battles added 14 digs and two assists while Jordan Barbrey had nine assists, nine digs and one ace.

Sophomore Bailey Powell added two blocks, two digs and a kill. Katy Beth Bole had an assist and a block while Warren and Zuck each had digs.

Lybarger led the way with seven kills, eight digs and an ace in a 25-16, 25-17 win over Walker. Powell collected five kills, four blocks and a dig followed by Zuck with four kills, Jared with three kills, seven digs and an ace and Hill with 12 assists, six digs, two kills and a block.

Bole scored two kills, an assist and a block while Barbrey had eight assists, a kill and four digs. Battles had six digs, two aces and an assist.

Jared scored nine kills, four blocks and three digs to lead the Lady Tigers past East Limestone 25-18, 25-14. Lybarger followed with four kills, four digs and two aces.

Powell added three kills and two blocks while Bole had two kills and a dig.

Barbrey had 12 assists and two digs while Hill had two kills, four assists, a block and eight digs. Battles had eight digs and Warren added an ace.

Jared’s nine kills, 10 digs, two blocks and ace helped Hartselle defeat Oak Mountain earlier in the day 25-18, 25-19. Lybarger had five kills and eight digs followed by Zuck with four kills, Hill with three kills, nine assists and four digs, Bole with two kills and Powell with a kill and a dig.

Barbrey assisted 14 times and made eight digs while Battles had 11 digs.

Jared had seven kills, three blocks, two digs and one ace to lead Hartselle past Danville 25-20, 25-11. Hill had four assists, three kills, an ace, a dig and a block.

Lybarder added eight digs, three kills and an ace while Bole collected three kills, two blocks, an ace and a dig.

Barbrey assisted 14 times and had a dig. Battles collected six digs while Warren had three digs. Zuck also added two kills.
