Charity horse show coming to Priceville

Many of the nation’s top American saddlebred, roadster and hackney horses will take center stage at the Morgan County Celebration arena in Priceville Oct. 9-12 for the Alabama Charity Championship Horse Show.

The show is the fourth largest of its kind in the U.S., attracting up to 700 horses from throughout the eastern half of the nation.

Competitions will be featured Wednesday through Saturday with shows beginning at 6 p.m. each day. In addition, there will be shows at 10 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Also, vendors will have displays set up selling horse-related items ranging from oil paintings to clothing. Admission is free.

Now in its 23rd year, the show brings amateur and professional horse owners, trainers and riders together to compete for top honors and cash prizes while raising money for local charities.

The competition offers open classes for juveniles, amateurs and professionals, all competing for prize money, ribbons and trophies. Proceeds benefit the Junior League of Morgan County and the Children’s Hands On Museum at the Carnegie Visual Art Center.
