Falkville Fall Festival comes earlier this year
The Town of Falkville will roll out the red carpet for its family-friendly, fun-filled fall festival two weeks earlier than usual this year.
The event will be staged on Sat., Oct. 12, beginning at 7 a.m. with a community-wide pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. Under its previous schedule, it would not be held until Sat., Oct. 26.
“We just want to remind folks that we’ve changed the date for a better break with the weather,” said Police Chief Chris Free, project chairman. Thankfully, the weather look goods for the weekend and we’re looking forward to a big crowd.”
The donation only pancake breakfast will take place in the fire hall and will stay open as long as it has customers. Volunteer fire fighters will also conduct a cake auction in the same location at noon.
In addition, the annual celebration features bingo in the courtroom, sponsored by the Park & Recreation Department; a children’s free play area, sponsored by VFW Post 10774; as well as other activities sponsored by the Lions Club, Quarterback Club and public library.
Other featured events include an antique and classic car show, an antique tractor show and a variety of arts and crafts and food vendors.
Live entertainment will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. The featured attraction will be The Kentucky Headhunters, a three-time CMA, ACM and Granny Award winner. They will be preceded by Jeff Whitlow and the Old Barn Band.
