Joe Wheeler 291 represented at division convention

Joe Wheeler members Judy Blackwell, Kay McCarley, Joyce Shumate, Terri Dean, Kathy Jones, Deroma Montgomery, Ellen Letson, Fay McWhorter, Bettye Moore, Betty Lovvorn, Becky Turner, Glendora James and Linda Edwards attended the 118th Alabama Division Convention in Florence Sept. 12-14.

Terri Dean served as convention chair, Bettye Moore was advisor to the pages and Faye McWhorter served as a page. Mrs. Moore was the speaker for the officers club meeting and gave an informative narrative on “Pond Springs,” which is General Joe Wheeler’s Home, located in Lawrence County.

The chapter was awarded 15 certificates for their work throughout the past year, including 1st place for the most insignia purchased and the best benevolent report for the year. The chapter was also awarded 3rd place in the scrapbook “A” category.

It was one of the host chapters for the district luncheon and decorated the tables with tea pitchers and teapots along with pearls and gloves. During the luncheon, Bettye Moore “passed the hat” and raised over $200.00 to be given to the Joe Wheeler House Foundation.
