Brewer edges HHS for Super Regional title

HUNTSVILLE – Brewer edged Hartselle 3-2 to win the North Super Regional at the Von Braun Center Saturday to clinch the top seed heading into the Elite Eight.

Brewer took the first two games 25-14, 25-21 and then lost the next two 25-23, 25-21 before winning the final game 15-9.

Riley Northway led the way with 22 kills, seven blocks and 17 digs. Savana Flack had 18 kills, three aces, seven blocks and 11 digs in the win.

Cheyenne McLemore also had 17 kills and 22 digs. Emily Oden also had 36 assists while Malerie Drinkard led the way with 23 digs and three aces.

They swept Briarwood Christian and Boaz to clinch a state tournament berth. They defeated Walker 3-0 in the semifinals to advance to the championship game.
