COLUMN: Honor their sacrifice
This weekend, our community is taking the time to honor our veterans.
Schools begin honoring veterans this week with numerous school programs. Probably one of the finest events takes place at Hartselle Junior High School. Don’t miss it at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
The Hartselle Veterans Parade will be Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. followed by a brief program honoring our veterans and active servicemen and servicewomen.
Then any veteran present can either walk or ride in the parade through downtown Hartselle. This will give the chance for local residents to show their support for our active and discharged members of the military. The parade begins at 11 a.m.
Sunday, I’m sure local churches will take the time to honor our veterans again.
Then on Monday, the Town of Priceville will host its annual Veterans Day Parade and ceremony at the new Morgan County Veterans Memorial.
If you have the opportunity to attend any of these events, I encourage you to participate in them.
If you cannot, then just find a veteran or family who lost a loved one in battle and thank them for their sacrifices for our great country.
