Stolen Bobcat recovered seven years later

A piece of construction equipment has been returned to its rightful owner after it was discovered in Morgan County seven years after it was stolen.

According to a press release from Sheriff Ana Franklin, a Huntsville police officer called the sheriff’s criminal investigation division with information on the whereabouts of a piece of stolen construction equipment.

The investigators proceeded to a residence in the unincorporated area of Morgan county and made contact with the homeowner. He stated that he had a Bobcat skid loader that he bought in 2006 and let them examine the piece of equipment in question.

Investigators were able to identify the equipment as being reported stolen from Albertville in 2006.

The skid loader/bobcat was impounded by the sheriff’s office to return to its rightful owner.

The investigators determined that the Morgan County resident had paid fair market value for the skid loader and had no reason to believe it was stolen. No charges are being filed against the Morgan County homeowner.
