Telephone Pioneers hold October meeting
Telephone Pioneers – Decatur Council #34 held its monthly meeting Oct. 31st at McCollum’s Restaurant in Decatur.
Members attending were Mable Smartt, Jane Terry, Linnie Thomas, Evelyn Howard, Glendora James, Rita Birdsong, Lloyd Barnett, Ruth Keenum, Frances Tate, Keith Hodge, Ken Runiger, J.T. Gurley and two guests, Shirley Barnett and Robin McKay.
The Telephone Pioneers, a national non-profit organization, is made up of both active and retired employees of telephone companies such as AT&T.
The Decatur Chapter officers are President-Mabel Smartt, Vice President-Jane Terry, Re-cording Secretary-Glen-dora James, Correspond-ing Secretary & Parlia-mentarian-Brenda Greene and Chaplain-Janet Smith.
Members at Large include Evelyn Howard, Ken Runiger, Barbara Watson and Rita Birdsong.
President Smartt discussed the Camp Blue Bird Camp held in September. Shirley Bar-nett was named as the “Outstanding Camper for Fall.” The Christmas luncheon will be held on Thur., Dec. 5, at the Caddo Cafeteria between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. For further information, contact Mrs. Smartt.
The November meeting will be held on Nov. 21 due to Thanksgiving.
