An 18-wheel flatbed truck turned over on its side and lost its load of lumber headed for Sonoco Products in Hartselle at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The truck, owned by DB&J Trucking Co. of Tuscaloosa, was entering Thompson Road from I-65 when its load shifted and caused it to flip over on its side. The 1” by 6” lumber it carried slid down a 50-ft. embankment. The driver was not injured.

A crew from River City Towing and Recovery was dispatched to the scene to reload the lumber on another truck by hand. The 18-wheeler sustained heavy damage to its on right side and had to be towed.

Hartselle police officers investigated and directed traffic around the wreckage.
