John Mason Allen

Funeral for John Mason Allen, 93, of Somerville was Mon., Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at Center Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Dobbs officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Center Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Allen died Sat., Nov. 30, 2013, at his residence. He was born March 13, 1920, in Morgan County to Stephenson Eli Allen and Ora Breeding Allen. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a lifetime member of Center Springs United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Janet Allen, three brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Allen and wife Debbie and Ricky Allen and wife Charlotte, both of Somerville; two daughters, Gail Turney and husband Royce and Donna Nelson and husband Bill, both of Somerville; a sister, Eloise Maples and husband Robert of Somerville; five grandchildren, Terry Johnson, Forrest Johnson, Tracy Sparks, Angie Voss and Jonathon Fairbanks; and 13 great-grandchildren

Pallbearers were Bob Allen, Ben Allen, Terry Johnson, Forrest Johnson, Jonathon Fairbanks, Harvey Kirby and Ferrell Maples.

Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Samantha Franklin of Alacare Hospice.
