Brewer, Priceville drop one spot in latest poll

Brewer dropped to No. 2 in Class 5A while Priceville dropped to No. 5 in Class 4A in the first Alabama Sports Writers Association poll of 2014.

The Lady Patriots were 3-3 over the holidays after competing in a challenging tournament in Memphis. They were passed by 2013 state runner-up Wenonah. Defending champion Faith Academy was ranked fifth.

Priceville dropped in the rankings in spite of winning its last 11 games, including a tournament championship at West Morgan. The Lady Bulldogs’ only two losses were to Brewer. Priceville was passed by UMS-Wright. Oneonta maintained the top spot in Class 4A.

Danville and Falkville were both nominated for the poll in Classes 3A and 1A, respectively. Falkville was ranked 10th in Class 1A for the final poll of 2013 but dropped out in the latest rankings.
