Bethel observes homecoming
Bethel Baptist School crowned its 2014 homecoming queen as well as kindergarten and elementary kings and queens at a “Midnight Masquerade” homecoming pageant conducted in the church sanctuary Friday evening.
Amber Wolff, a senior and daughter of Jim and Judy Wolff, was crowned homecoming queen by the 2013 queen, Cassie Bunner.
Other nominees were Savannah Markham, daughter of Jeff and Denise Markham, and Morgan Starrett, daughter of Chris and Nicola Fortenberry.
Miss Wolff has attended Bethel for 10 years and has been a member of the school’s volleyball team for six years. She received the team’s “Most Determined Player” award in 2011 and the “Hustle” award in 2012. She has been a cheerleader for three years, was a member of the Yearbook Club in 2012 and a cast member of the school play in 2013. In 2012, she placed first in Superior Vocal Ensemble and third in Home Economics at the State Academic and Fine Arts competitions. She also recently finished second in Oral Interpretation of Poetry and second in calligraphy. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Recognized as senior high members of the homecoming court were Sam Murphy and Charlotte Matthews. Junior high members were Trentin Dupper and Elizabeth Matthews.
Paxtin Dupper and Anna Grace Trotter were crowned king and queen of the elementary division. Anna Grace is the daughter of Josh and Tammy Trotter and Paxtin is the son of Dr. Joe and Dr. Kathy Dupper.
Other nominees were: Daniel Ruhl and Morgan Trotter representing first and second grades and Eli Ward and Jasmine Ingram representing fifth and sixth grades.
Owen Merritt and Kylea Cerutti were crowned king and queen of the kindergarten division. Kylea is the daughter of Marc and Rachel Cerutti and Owen is the son of Kyle and Calah Merritt.
Other nominees in the kindergarten division were: Cohen Gibson and Kaylee Thigpen and Sam Reeves and Addison Chudy, three-year kindergarten; Ben Pike, Brantley Brightwell, Brady Reed and Lily Widner and Tripp Reed and Kate Meadows, four-year kindergarten; and Aiden Wright and Avonelle Boucher, five-year kindergarten.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bunner served as emcees.
Bethel’s junior varsity and varsity boy’s basketball teams faced off against teams from Life after the pageant.
