Reeves couple observe 56th anniversary

Morris T. Lentz, assistant chief of the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department and vice president of the Lauderdale County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments, is asking for your help for his friend and fellow firefighter, Blake Newton.

Newton was hurt while responding to a call in December. While on their way to a doctor’s appointment, He and his wife were also involved in a car accident that injured his shoulder.

Newton is recovering at home but is unable to work. During this time, Blake he and his wife have welcomed their first child, a baby girl, and all are doing fine.

The fire department and community welcomes everyone to come out to the Lexington Fire Department Thur., Jan. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. for a Swamp John’s benefit dinner.

Plates will be $10 and advance tickets can be purchased at Lexington Town Hall (205­229­5221), Lexington Water Department (205­229­5581), the fire hall (205­229­9997) or from members of the fire department. Donations will also be accepted.

I thank all of our volunteer firefighters, and may God bless each of you and your families.

Corinth West Baptist Women’s group met Sun., Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. Donna Smithson and Shanda Garner, co­chairwomen, conducted the meeting. They plan the senior citizen’s lunch and bingo for Tues., Jan. 21, at 11 a.m.

Jim and Karen (Bryant) Walker of Desoto, Kan., visited John and Laurie Bryant of the Blair community and Lorene Bryant, Pam Holmes and Doris Herring in Massey Sun., Jan. 5. They ate lunch with Larry and Nancy Anders and Doris Herring Mon., Jan. 6.
