Smokey the Bear Poster Contest winners were announced last week at Sparkman School. Wayside Garden Club sponsored the annual contest and 12 members of Mrs. Toni Roberts’ second grade class submitted entries.

Mrs. Roberts led the class in a study of the history of Smokey the Bear and the importance of wildfire prevention.

The winners were: honorable mention, Weston Robinson; third place, Macon Bradberry; second place, Thomas Vasquez; and first place, Catie Beth Ledbetter. Each member of the class received a golden dollar from club member June Maxwell and winners received additional cash prizes.
