AHSAA Indoor Track Meet Moved to Monday, Tuesday

The AHSAA State Indoor Track Championship has been re-scheduled for Monday and Tuesday  at the Birmingham CrossPlex, AHSAAS Executive Director Steve Savarese announced Thursday.

With the move to Monday and Tuesday, the original event schedule will be used each day, with events beginning on Monday at 10 a.m., and Tuesday at 9 a.m.
The move became necessary when Gov. Robert Bentley extended the state of emergency declaration through Friday for school systems still impacted by this week’s inclement weather.

“Travel and safety are of the utmost concern,” said Savarese. “Many of our school systems will still be closed Friday. We also do not want to exclude student-athletes from competing because of this state of emergency. Our Championship Interruption policy provides guidelines concerning these types of situations, and we are following these guidelines.”

Savarese said the CrossPlex is working closely with the AHSAA to make the necessary adjustments for the facility.
