Annie Jr. set for next weekend
Hartselle Junior High School’s drama program, along with some students from Hartselle Intermediate School, will present “Annie Jr.,” a musical based on the Broadway production of “Annie.” Performances for the general public will be on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. in the new high school auditorium.
Lisa King, drama teacher at Hartselle High School, said this production encompasses more than just the 40 actors and crew that will perform this weekend. She said it has been a team effort from the entire school.
“The kids in shop class have been building the sets,” King said. “The art students have been painting the sets for us. Everyone in the school has been so supportive of us. There’s no way we could do this without their help.”
Davis said she decided to do this play because she had the right group of students at this time. They have been rehearsing ever since October after school and on weekends when the students could get together.
“We have a very talented group of kids here at the school,” Davis said. “I always wanted to do this. I felt like this group could do it and we decided to give it a try. It’s been a great experience.”
Tickets for the performances are available at the door and are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students.
